Did you know that Packsize is a lot more than just machines and z-Fold™? Packsize’s On Demand Packaging® really offers a complete solution for all your packaging needs. Because of this, we’d like to highlight one of the other products we offer.
Water Activated Tape (WAT), or wet tape, is commonly used for carton sealing (that’s an industry term for “taping boxes shut”). The question we’re going to answer today is “why?”
There are four reasons why water activated tape works really well in packaging.
Wet tape is specially designed to bond to corrugated cardboard. It will stick better than any other style of tape and will work in dusty or even dirty environments.
Any opportunity for some extra branding is a good opportunity. Unlike standard tape, WAT can be custom printed. That means literally sticking your logo onto everything you ship. Companies have found ways to get extra creative with their tape printing by adding QR codes or special offers on their tape. Case in point—the picture at the top of this post.
Imagine you’re wearing a band-aid. What happens if you’re in a humid, tropical climate and you start to sweat? It’s going to start losing its grip. In sub-zero temperatures, adhesives can become brittle and easily break. With wet tape, you’ll find that extreme hot or cold temperatures don’t affect the bond. It’ll even maintain its grip in wet conditions.
At the end of the day, this is the most important thing, right? The purpose of your packaging is to protect whatever is inside of your package. And wet tape does that in spades. No matter what happens to your box, you can be assured that WAT will hold better than any other conventional tape on the market. And unlike other forms of tape that can be tampered with, it is impossible to open a water-activated seal without leaving a broken seal—providing your packaging with an extra layer of security.
